“The Seven Pillars of Wisdom” was entered in a contest held by Irvine Valley College in 2008. It was chosen for an award and was displayed for two years in the center of a charming piazza on the college campus.

Jean-Louis is currently redesigning his sculpture gardens, but his mind is whirring with ideas for future works. Stay tuned.

2012 Update
During 2012 four additions have been made: three wood creations (two "Concertos and "The Burning Bush) and another sculpture in lava rock, "Ajija" the crane.

Jean-Louis Astier died peacefully in his home in Rancho Santa Fe on October 1st, 2013 surrounded by his wife Patricia and his four children. His last creation, "La Porte Etroite", was completed in february 2013. It was inspired by a novel from french author André Gide (Strait is the Gate - 1909) which makes reference to a verse from the gospel according to Matthew, chapter 7, verses 13-14:

                                                                  "Narrow is the gate which leads to Eternal Life......"
